From Our Pastor

Hey friend,

We’ve not met, but I’m glad that you have stumbled onto our website here. Maybe you’re facing a crisis. Perhaps you’re just curious about questions of faith. Maybe you’re new to Tallahassee and looking to get connected with a church or meet some people from the community. Whatever the case may be, you are welcome here. I mean it.

I grew up as a church kid, and from an early age I was taught one of the foundational principles of the Christian faith: that Jesus came to seek and save people who were disconnected from God (Luke 19:9-10). Yet as I grew into adulthood I realized that oftentimes the church had sadly forgotten this mission. Many churches seemed closer to social clubs concerned primarily with keeping people happy rather than mission-focused communities trying to share the life-giving message about Jesus. That began to gnaw at me. Little did I know, a growing conviction for people who had given up on church but not on God was beginning to form.

My favorite passage of Scripture comes from Acts chapter 15. Here, we have the first recorded church leadership meeting. The topic of debate? Whether or not people had to get circumcised to become followers of Jesus. (Fun stuff.) The response of a man named James crystalizes perfectly our mission and my conviction: “We should not make it difficult for [those] who are turning to God” (Acts 15:19). The only thing that should be a barrier for someone coming to know Jesus is Jesus himself. Any man-made expectation or religious hoop to jump through is just spiritual nonsense masquerading as piety.

So with that being said, I’m glad you’re here. Poke around. Explore. Feel free to check faith out at your pace, in the way God wired you. That’s why we’re here, after all. If I can be a resource to you on your spiritual journey, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to help. Regardless, I hope that you’ll eventually come on a Sunday morning to check Crossbridge out. We’d love to meet you and introduce you to a Savior who is authentic, engaging, relevant, and life-changing.

On the journey with you,

wes
